Immigration Paralegal
An established law firm is seeking an experienced Immigration Paralegal to join its growing employment-based immigration practice in Chicago. This is a full-time opportunity supporting attorneys and corporate clients with a wide range of immigrant and nonimmigrant matters in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
The position follows a hybrid schedule with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote, with additional in-office time as needed during busy periods due to the paper-intensive nature of the practice. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Chicago office. The salary range for this position is $80K - $100K.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of employment-based immigration experience in a law firm environment and be comfortable independently managing a caseload from start to finish. Strong experience with PERM labor certifications and employment-based immigrant and nonimmigrant petitions is required.
Skills required and Job Duties include the following:
Job Duties:
- Prepare and file employment-based immigrant and nonimmigrant petitions, including H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, PERM, I-140, I-485, and related applications
- Manage full lifecycle PERM matters, including recruitment, documentation, and filing requirements
- Draft immigration forms, support letters, and petition packages in compliance with USCIS, DOL, and consular requirements
- Gather, organize, and review supporting documentation from employers and foreign national beneficiaries
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the case lifecycle, providing updates and responding to inquiries
- Prepare and coordinate responses to RFEs, audits, and other government requests
- Maintain accurate case records and case activity within case management and CRM systems
- Record billable time and manage deadlines across a high-volume caseload
- Collaborate closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure exceptional client service
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of employment-based immigration experience in a law firm setting
- Strong experience handling PERM labor certifications from start to finish
- Experience preparing H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, I-140, and I-485 filings
- Prior experience using immigration case management or CRM systems
- Ability to independently manage a caseload and prioritize competing deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with confidential information
- Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred
- Exposure to EB-5 matters is a plus but not required
- Spanish language skills are a plus but not required
