Immigration Paralegal | Detroit, MI | Direct Hire | Remote-flexible after onboarding
Remote flexibility, real cases, a senior team that will know your name. Detroit business immigration, done right.
An established Michigan law firm with a top-tier business immigration practice is hiring an experienced Immigration Paralegal for its downtown Detroit office. Permanent, direct-hire seat, not a contract or cap-season surge role. You would join a compact group of attorneys and paralegals handling employment-based immigration for manufacturers, suppliers and other global employers, including a steady stream of cross-border TN work most immigration shops never see.
Schedule built for family: your first 90 days are in the Detroit office learning the team's playbook, then the role opens up to a remote-forward schedule. You will still come in on the days your supervising attorney sets, when the paralegal team is together, and for the monthly in-person team day.
Why this seat is different
- Remote-flexible schedule after a 90-day onboarding in the office, with some in-office days required: onsite while you onboard, remote-forward once you are up to speed
- Full-lifecycle ownership: you carry a case from intake through approval, not one slice of a form factory
- Variety every week: TN, H-1B, L-1, E, PERM and green cards, plus naturalization and consular work
- Senior attorneys who teach: you draft, they refine, you get sharper fast
- An INSZoom shop with real tickler discipline, so deadlines are managed instead of survived
- Stability that is rare in immigration work: a long-established firm, a permanent seat, a team built for the long run
What you will own
- Prepare and file nonimmigrant and immigrant cases with USCIS, CBP, DOS and DOL: TN, H-1B, L-1A/L-1B and blanket L, E visas, PERM, I-140, adjustment of status and consular processing
- Draft support letters, declarations and RFE responses that attorneys can sign with light edits
- Keep the docket honest: expirations, extensions and filing windows tracked and hit
- Assemble and certify supporting evidence; coordinate translations and credential evaluations
- Be the steady, responsive point of contact for HR teams and foreign nationals
What you bring
- 5+ years of immigration paralegal experience with employment-based casework
- Bachelor's degree (an ABA-approved paralegal certificate is a plus)
- Intermediate to advanced INSZoom, or deep experience on a comparable immigration case-management platform
- Calm under volume, exacting on detail, comfortable running your own docket
- Detroit-area based: onsite for the first 90 days, then in-office on coordinated days
