Immigration Specialist
4-month contract (2/2/26-5/25/26)
Remote-MST hours
Pay Range $32.00-38.00/hr.
Our client is looking for a Temporary Immigration Specialist to provide short-term coverage during a maternity leave. This role is responsible for supporting U.S. employment-based immigration processes, ensuring continuity, compliance, and proactive tracking of cases and deadlines. The position sits within HR and is primarily immigration focused.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for immigration-related employee inquiries
- Support U.S. employment-based visas, including H-1B visas and transfers
- Partner closely with the immigration law firm; escalate complex issues as needed
- Log into the immigration portal to review and approve cases, including LCAs
- Understand and manage the H-1B lifecycle and common immigration workflows
- Support employees on F-1 student visas
- Conduct I-9 verifications via Zoom, review documentation, and complete I-9s in Workday
- Review weekly expiration reports and track upcoming visa expirations or max-outs
- Proactively follow up with employees and legal partners to ensure timely filings
- Ensure no immigration deadlines or compliance requirements are missed during the coverage period
Required Skills:
- 3-5 years of HR-related experience with regular exposure to immigration activities
Working knowledge of:
- H-1B visas and lifecycle
- LCAs
- Immigration case coordination
- Familiarity with F-1 visas
- Prior experience completing I-9s
- Experience working with immigration law firms and external portals
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred
- Background in HR Operations, Global Mobility, or immigration-adjacent HR roles
- Experience using Workday
- Interim or contract HR experience
