Flora Legal Group is an Indianapolis-based immigration firm committed to serving the immigrant community. We are seeking an Associate Attorney with a heart and passion to help immigrants and a desire to thrive in a large, team-oriented immigration practice. To succeed in this role, you will need to possess enthusiasm for immigration law, strong interpersonal and communication skills, exceptional research, writing, and time management skills, and the ability to work independently with little supervision. Fluency in both Spanish and English is required. This position will be dedicated to packet review, legal writing, and back-up work for the firm's detained/ICE docket.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completes accurate packet review within designated timeframes, including review of forms, motions, briefs/pretrial statements, affidavits, and the like;
- Assists with legal writing, primarily consisting of briefs, pretrial statements, motions to reopen, and the like;
- Appear for detained bond and Individual Hearings;
- Enters information in case management software to include notes, client correspondence, hours utilized, and matter updates;
- Time tracks hours worked in accordance with the firm’s time tracking policy.
- Collaborates with and provides training, mentorship, and guidance to paralegals, paralegal supervisors, and other staff as needed;
- Screens and reviews information for detained clients and provides information on options for immigration relief/next steps;
- Assist with the firm's detained/ICE docket, including but not limited to: communication with clients' family members, communication with detained clients, review and support of the ICE paralegals' caseloads, appearance in bond hearings and credible fear interviews;
- Develops legal strategy for the detained/ICE docket in collaboration with Managing Attorney and firm's legal team;
- Communicates with clients regarding case processing and procedural issues.
Qualifications:
- Must be a licensed attorney in good standing to apply; Juris Doctorate required.
- At least two years of applicable immigration law experience is required;
- Fluent in Spanish (reading, writing, speaking);
- Passion for immigration law;
- Have excellent communication skills and enjoy helping people;
- Be self-motivated, intellectually curious, and possess a strong work ethic;
- Enjoy continuous learning in a fast-paced and friendly work environment.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
