Salary: $62,938/ year
Location: This position is based in our headquarters in New York City, with occasional travel to our regional offices across New York State. This position is mostly on-site, with a requirement of being in the office 4 days per week and remote 1 day per week.

Position Overview
The Senior Associate of Advocacy and Administration will work within the Advocacy Department to support its community outreach, event planning, and supporting the administrative needs of the department. The ideal candidate must have an interest in immigrant rights and advocacy; and will have experience with some combination of the following: events management and planning, office administration, data input and management. This position plays a key role in planning, managing and executing the NYIC’s annual conference-Member Congress.
The Senior Associate will work closely with the Advocacy Department to manage the department’s overall goals, which include supporting advocacy efforts through logistics support and planning, supporting campaigns and initiatives, and tracking legislative outreach.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plans the execution of organizational NYIC projects as needed, attends all major NYIC events, and participates in the planning and execution of organizational events and committees, Including the organization's annual statewide conference.
- Supports the development of internal advocacy department management tools and proactively supports the implementation of those systems
- Leads logistics, planning and preparation for advocacy related actions, events, projects, and assists the planning and execution of state campaign events.
- Manages event and mobilization safety and security including but not limited to training and leading volunteers, coordinating with institutions and partners, and effectively communicating plans.
- Manages the inventory of physical and digital resources and logistical needs for the advocacy department
- Provides administrative support in various coalitions and the leadership council, under the direction of the Vice President of Advocacy.
- Supports additional duties as necessary.
- May supervise staff, fellow or interns.
- Occasionally, carries and moves materials weighing 50 lbs or less.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Advocacy and in office administration is a must, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
- Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading and completing projects.
- Working knowledge of G-Suite, Asana, Salesforce, Eventbrite and ability to teach and learn new systems.
- Detailed oriented, with excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish or French is a plus.
- Driver’s license is preferred
- Some evenings and weekends work expected (compensated accordingly)
- Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer.
Salary: $62,938.00**
- *The NYIC has a transparent and equitable salary structure. Starting salaries for each position are set in advance with no room for negotiation.
