We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Immigration Legal Clerk (entry level also acceptable) to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will support attorneys and management with a range of responsibilities, including communicating with clients, managing case files, and handling administrative tasks. This role requires organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a proactive mindset. multilingual skills are a plus (French or Spanish).
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer phone calls professionally and provide timely, accurate information or direct inquiries to the appropriate staff.
- Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates, gather necessary documentation, and schedule appointments.
- Draft and transcribe legal documents including motions, affidavits, and letters under the supervision of attorneys.
- Conduct legal research related to immigration law using online databases (e.g., Lexis-Nexis).
- Maintain organized and up-to-date digital and physical records using document management systems.
- Support attorneys in preparation for court hearings, client meetings, and interviews.
- Perform general administrative tasks including scheduling, data entry, and document scanning.
- Uphold client confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in immigration law or a legal office environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures related to immigration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-service mindset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with document management systems.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and reviewing documents.
- Bilingual (French or Spanish) is a plus but not required.
