The associate attorney is tasked with representing clients in immigration cases. This includes handling family-based immigration matters, asylum applications before USCIS as well as representing clients in removal proceedings before EOIR. The associate attorney will prepare clients for their master and merits hearings; attend said hearings and litigate cases before the Board of Immigration Appeals and Federal District Courts. The position is on-site.
Functions:
- Represent clients in presenting applications before USCIS at interviews.
- Review and draft initial filings and RFE responses prepared by paralegals/law clerks.
- Prepare applications before USCIS (Adjustment of status, naturalization, U/T visas, TPS, Asylum, Waivers, Parole in Place…)
- Supervise and review the work of paralegal staff.
- Represent clients in removal proceedings and before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
- Prepare legal complaints before Federal District Courts (Habeas Corpus, APA, Mandamus).
- Prepare memoranda and legal briefs.
- Prepare employment self-petitions before USCIS such as National Interest Waivers or EB1 Petitions.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information.
- Licensed to practice law in any state; Georgia Bar preferred.
- Juris Doctor or LLM. JD preferred.
- Experience working as an immigration attorney preferred though training will be provided;
- Fluency in English and Spanish or English and French highly preferred;
- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, self-motivation, and an ability to work collaboratively with others;
- Adept at interacting with a wide variety of people and comfortable working in a busy, open work environment; and
- Personal integrity in handling ethically complex and confidential situations.
