Our client, a global company with offices in 12 countries, is looking for a contract Immigration Specialist to join their HR team.
This Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert for immigration matters for new hires requiring visa sponsorship (H-1B, L-1, O-1) or permanent residency (PERM, I-140, I-485). This is an ongoing contract for about 6-12 months, depending on business needs.
Responsibilities will include:
- Serve as point of contact for Human Resources team on immigration matters for new hires/internal transfers, including keeping the team apprised of timelines and any delays in the process
- Serve as point of contact for employees regarding immigration processes and timelines
- Work with outside immigration counsel on petition filings, extensions, and adjustments of status
- Prepare immigration support letters and provide employment verification documents as needed
- Oversee immigration deadlines like work authorization renewals, green card milestones, and visa expirations
- Liaise with Payroll and Benefits on I-9 compliance
- Monitor ongoing changes in immigration laws and regulations
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years of experience in employment-based immigration processes
- Knowledge of I-9 compliance
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with absolute discretion
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, experience with immigration tracking software ideal
