Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced, employment-based Immigration Paralegal at their offices in Detroit, MI 48226. This role is on a full-time, direct hire basis and will pay an annual salary of $75K to $90K, dependent on experience, plus a performance-based bonus and competitive benefits package. The position will allow for a hybrid work week (after an initial orientation period) with 3 days onsite, 2 days remote. Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience working as a paralegal as well as extensive experience with filing immigration applications, petitions and appeals.
Position Summary
File various applications and petitions with the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (“USCBP”), U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement (“USICE”), U.S. Department of State (“USDOS”) and the U.S. Department of Labor (“USDOL”).
Responsibilities
- Maintain tickler system/database for timely filing of extensions, petitions, and applications.
- Knowledgeable regarding the concepts, practices, and procedures of Treaty U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement (formerly “NAFTA”) and DHS and related government agencies.

- Draft letters and affidavits supporting applications and petitions.
- Obtain and organize documents supporting applications and petitions.
- Research availability of foreign documents (i.e., birth, military, prison, and police record(s) and assist clients in obtaining Coordinate certification of foreign documents.
- Coordinate translation of foreign documents.
- Coordinate equivalency and evaluations of foreign degrees.
Skills And Abilities
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Intermediate to advanced experience using INS ZOOM.
Education, Experience, And/Or Training
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Paralegal Certification from an ABA approved program preferred.
- This is an experienced position that requires a minimum of 5+ years’ Paralegal experience with demonstrated abilities in most major areas of responsibility.
