Now Hiring: Sr. Global Mobility Specialist & Expat Support | Houston, TX
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Global Mobility Specialist & Expat Support professional to join a global organization at its U.S. headquarters in Houston.
This position will serve as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for global mobility, expatriate support, international assignments, and employment-based immigration, working closely with employees, U.S. stakeholders, Japan headquarters, affiliate companies, and external service providers.
Position Overview
Title: Sr. Global Mobility Specialist & Expat Support
Location: Houston, TX 77056 – Galleria District
Work Style: Hybrid – 4 days in office / 1 day WFH
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Employment: Direct Hire / Exempt / Full Benefits
Compensation: $103,000–$114,000 annually
Bonus: Yes, based on annual performance evaluation
Relocation Support: Available – details can be discussed
Travel: Minimal to none
Target Start Date: October–November 2026
Languages: Professional proficiency in Japanese and English required
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end administration of expatriate, rotational, international hire, and short- and long-term global mobility programs
• Serve as the senior point of contact and SME for global assignments, relocation, compensation, benefits, and expatriate matters
• Coordinate assignment onboarding, ongoing support, transfers, repatriation, and offboarding
• Partner closely with Japan headquarters and U.S.-based HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, Legal, and Tax teams
• Manage employment-based immigration processes with external immigration counsel, including visa petitions, extensions, amendments, transfers, and dependent matters
• Monitor work authorization, visa expirations, filing deadlines, Form I-9 requirements, and related compliance matters
• Coordinate expatriate tax, cross-border payroll, compensation, benefits, relocation, and compliance matters
• Manage immigration, tax, relocation, and mobility vendors and monitor service quality and deliverables
• Develop and improve global mobility policies, procedures, workflows, controls, templates, and service standards
• Support expatriate employees throughout the assignment lifecycle, including cultural integration and workplace-related matters
• Lead and support global and regional HR initiatives across the Americas
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, International Relations, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 7+ years of HR experience
• 4+ years of direct experience in Global Mobility, expatriate programs, international assignments, and/or employment-based immigration
• Advanced knowledge of global mobility practices, international assignment lifecycles, immigration coordination, relocation, tax coordination, and assignment-related compensation and benefits
• Experience managing complex mobility and expatriate cases and working with external vendors/service providers
• Strong stakeholder management, consulting, analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively across multicultural and cross-border organizations
• Professional proficiency in Japanese and English
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting Japanese expatriate populations and working directly with Japan headquarters is highly preferred. Experience coordinating expatriate tax, cross-border payroll, benefits, immigration, relocation, compliance, vendor management, and enterprise-wide global mobility initiatives is also highly valued.
