The Opportunity
This role is designed for a dedicated litigator who thrives in high-stakes environments. You will manage complex and impactful cases, primarily focusing on Removal Defense before the Orlando Immigration Court, while helping shape the strategic direction of our practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Courtroom Advocacy: Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court, both in-person and via remote appearances.
- Field Representation: Attend USCIS interviews and ICE appointments across Tampa and Orlando.
- Federal Litigation: Prepare and litigate federal Habeas Corpus petitions.
- Case Review & Preparation: Ability to accurately review petitions, applications, and documentary evidence, ensuring completeness, consistency, and attention to detail.
- Client Stewardship: Prepare clients for sensitive hearings and interviews and maintain proactive, compassionate communication throughout the legal process.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Active member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- Bilingual Proficiency: Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (professional-grade written and spoken fluency is required).
- Skill Set: Exceptional courtroom advocacy skills.
- Core Values: Strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, highly organized, detail-oriented, capable of managing a fast-paced, high-volume caseload and a deep sense of empathy for the immigrant community.
- Client Communication: Ability to communicate clearly, compassionately, and professionally with clients, most of whom are Spanish-speaking.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in Removal Defense and appearing before EOIR/USCIS.
- Federal litigation experience.
- Based in or near the Tampa, FL area.
