Experienced EOIR Bilingual Immigration Paralegal/Legal Assistant

We are a fast-growing, boutique law firm focused on immigration, criminal and personal injury. We are hiring a Bilingual Paralegal/Legal Assistant in Atlanta, Georgia to handle both administrative and deportation immigration cases. When our clients call us for help, they are often going through an emotionally difficult period. We are looking for a rock star to handle a high case volume with experience in all facets of administrative immigration law.

You must have the ability to pay attention to detail. We provide our clients the ultimate customer service experience and will require attention to detail, responsiveness with client’s and understanding of all immigration forms. We are looking for someone that is very knowledgeable about multiple facets of immigration law or is willing to learn.

Previous work experience as a paralegal/legal assistant is strong recommended but we will train the right person. If you are looking for a short term job this is not the position for you. We are looking for someone that is dedicated to helping people and passionate about their career in the legal field that is looking for stability, if this is you then the position is perfect for you.

You must be an optimistic and positive person. Our office does not do well with toxic people or negative attitudes or whiners, complainers, gossipers, martyrs, or victims. You will not fit in here if you even think that you may fit into one of those categories of negative people. We prefer people who are not afraid of computers or learning new things that will make their jobs easier. You must be able to handle working with several different databases of information. You must work with urgency and treat each new case with care. If you aren’t 100% confident managing data and people, you are not the right person for this job. You must be competent and proficient in the use of Google Docs, Gmail and Adobe, at a minimum. If you are familiar with legal case management software and Slack that is a plus.

Must be willing and enjoy learning new information and be willing to adapt to our way of handling cases for the firm. You must be able to think on your feet and make smart decisions. Other requirements include the following:

Knowledge on preparing all family immigration applications to include but not limited to: EOIR 42A/42B, I-360, I-130, I-130A, I-485, I-765, I-864, DS-260, DS-160, I-601, I-601A, I-918, I-192, I-90, G-639 and other applications as necessary;
Knowledge of filing motions (Prima Facie Filing, Pleadings, Administrative Closure, Motion to Terminate, Change of Venue, et. al.) with EOIR and OCC;
Knowledge of USCIS and checking case status online;
Knowledge of office practices, procedures, machines and equipment;
Knowledge of correct English and Spanish language usage, spelling, punctuation and legal terminology;
Knowledge of the organization and composition of business letters, minutes, reports and numerical and tabular materials;
Ability to determine work priorities;
Ability to multitask independently and demonstrate sound judgment;
Ability to execute work assignments;
Ability to pay strong attention to detail and timing
Knowledge of the techniques of receiving call, making appointments, giving information and explaining instructions, directions and guidelines.
Knowledge of case management software and google calendar;
Skilled typing ability and knowledge of personal computers, hardware, software and related applications and systems.
Ability to follow instructions
Ability to apply instructions and/or guidelines as appropriate in the performance of management support activities.
Ability to pay strong attention to detail and timing as well as excellence that reflects and demonstrate integrity, customer-centered, accountability, respect and excellence
Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations occurring as a result of workloads and/or deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to select and apply references such as dictionaries, English usage manuals,
Spanish usage manuals, legal references, procedures manuals and computer guides.
Ability to use diplomacy and discretion in giving out information and in referring and directing callers and visitors.
Ability to skillfully operate word processing equipment and/or personal computers.
Ability to transcribe documents from written oral or computer generated formats.
Ability to necessary interpret instructions and guidelines in order to make decisions and take actions.
Ability to determine work priorities.
Ability to multitask independently and demonstrate sound judgment
Ability to execute work assignments

Most importantly, you need to have compassion when dealing with our clients. You will be the primary contact upon the hiring of the firm in regards to an individuals case. You will need to remain responsive at all times to client’s questions and concerns and provide updates as needed. Weekly status reports on cases will be provided to office management and ability to keep track of work and time will be essential to be successful in position. If you are not willing to keep track of your Key Performance Indicators then this is not the position for you. Your ability to listen to what you are being told and ask follow-up questions is very important. If you cannot listen, understand, evaluate, and work with a high volume of cases, this is not the job for you.
