What You’ll Do:
Imagine: Every day, you'll walk into a supportive and collaborative environment where your skills directly translate into safety, stability, and hope for vulnerable individuals and families. You won't just be processing cases; you'll be providing a lifeline, ensuring that the scales of justice tip towards fairness and compassion. You will join a dedicated department of attorneys, DOJ reps, and support staff working within a wider agency of dedicated civil legal service providers.
As a Senior Immigration Attorney on our team, you will:
· Be the Shield: Expertly guide and represent clients through the complexities of affirmative filings before USCIS and deportation and removal proceedings before the EOIR.
· Amplify Voices: Advocate fiercely in hearings, briefs, and interviews with immigration on behalf of your vulnerable clients.
· Navigate the System: Strategically pursue affirmative immigration options and crucial state court actions to fortify our clients' defense.
· Connect and Empower: Collaborate with our dedicated staff in the immigration program and other programs, ensuring that our clients receive all legal services they need. Work with community partners, amplifying our collective impact and ensuring comprehensive support for those we serve.
What Fuels Your Success:
· Your unwavering commitment to justice and human rights.
· Your experience representing clients in immigration matters, particularly removal proceedings, including law school clinical experience. Alternatively, your willingness to learn the intricacies and particulars of the evolving US immigration system.
· Your exceptional legal acumen, research, and persuasive writing skills.
· Your ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds with empathy and understanding.
· Your collaborative spirit and desire to thrive in a supportive team environment.
· Your adaptability and willingness to travel to Immigration Courts in Batavia and NYC.
· Bonus points for fluency in Spanish and experience with trauma-informed care.
