Position Overview
Our established immigration law firm is seeking a skilled and passionate Immigration Attorney to represent noncitizens detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and placed in removal proceedings. This role requires courtroom advocacy, fast-paced legal analysis, and strong interpersonal skills to serve individuals facing some of the most urgent and complex immigration challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent detained clients in bond hearings, master calendar hearings, merits hearings, and related proceedings before the Immigration Court.
- Prepare and file applications for relief from removal, including Cancellation of Removal, Asylum, Withholding of Removal, CAT, Adjustment of Status, and Waivers.
- Conduct client interviews in detention centers and prepare affidavits, declarations, and legal briefs.
- File motions to reopen, motions to terminate, motions for bond redetermination, and appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
- Maintain regular communication with clients and their families, providing updates and legal guidance with clarity and compassion.
- Collaborate with paralegals and legal assistants on case preparation and client support.
- Conduct legal research and stay up to date on immigration law and policy developments.
- Maintain accurate case records in the firm's case management system.
- Occasionally assist with related federal litigation, such as habeas corpus petitions or stays of removal in federal court.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in any U.S. state or territory.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in immigration law, with direct experience in detained or removal defense preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish (spoken) is required.
- Excellent legal writing, courtroom advocacy, and case management skills.
- Ability to manage a full caseload and work both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.
- Commitment to zealous advocacy and immigrant rights.
- Willingness to travel to detention facilities and immigration courts as needed.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
