Job Description:
Salary range: $45,000-$48,000 per year ; depending in experience
Job Description As a member of the ISSC International Student Advising team, this position is responsible for providing immigration advising and support services for the international student population at ASU of approximately 17,000 students.
Essential Duties:
- Interprets immigration regulations for F-1 nonimmigrant status.
- Provides immigration advisement to F-1 students and serves as Designated School Official (DSO).
- Monitors regulatory updates and apply necessary changes to operations, forms and advisement to maintain compliance.
- Oversees the maintenance of student files to ensure accurate record keeping, including creating new immigration files in a timely manner, and maintaining consistency of Sunapsis, and SEVIS records.
- Interfaces with Department of Homeland Security including Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), works with other DSO's to ensure consistent protocol regarding policies and procedures.
- Responds to communications related to immigration processes and transactions from academic units, student, government agencies and the community at large.
- Develops workshops and information sessions regarding international issues for University students, faculty and staff, in collaboration with various International Student Advisers.
- Coordinates the assessment efforts in the immigration area of the International Students and Scholars Center (ISSC) Assists Student Advising team with special projects as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
- Background in international education or previous DSO experience preferred.
- Skills in organizing and prioritizing work activities.
- Skills in verbal and written communication.
Working Environment:
- This position will be assisting the International Students and Scholars Center in Student Business Services building on the Tempe Campus. Activities are primarily performed in-person in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting.
- Regular use of standard office equipment including but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer and copier. Involves at times bending, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds.

The International Students and Scholars Center is one of several departments comprising the Division of Enrollment Services which utilizes a variety of strategies to enroll and support a student population representative of Arizona State University’s vision.
The International Students and Scholars Center is comprised of a staff of trained experts, versed in the details and requirements of academic and employment-based programs, who provide visa and immigration advice and support to visiting students and scholars. These services include oversight of visa programs, planning and coordinating orientations for the international students, and assisting with visa and immigration for new students, staff, and scholars.
