Getachew & Ansari Immigration Attorneys, P.C. is seeking an experienced, highly detail-oriented Senior Immigration Paralegal / Case Manager to join our immigration practice.
This position is intended for an experienced immigration professional who can take ownership of cases from onboarding through preparation, filing, and post-filing case management while working closely with the supervising attorney.
We are looking for someone who does not simply complete assigned tasks, but actively manages cases, identifies missing information and potential issues, follows up consistently, tracks deadlines, and ensures that files move forward accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities
The Senior Immigration Paralegal / Case Manager will:
- Manage assigned immigration matters from onboarding through filing and post-filing case management;
- Prepare immigration forms, applications, petitions, supporting documentation, exhibits, and filing packages;
- Draft and edit client declarations, affidavits, correspondence, cover letters, and other case-related documents;
- Review client documents and information for completeness, accuracy, and consistency;
- Identify missing documentation, discrepancies, and potential issues and promptly escalate matters requiring attorney review;
- Communicate directly and professionally with clients regarding documents, questionnaires, signatures, deadlines, appointments, and case progress;
- Maintain complete and accurate electronic case files;
- Track filing deadlines, hearings, interviews, biometrics appointments, RFEs, NOIDs, and other case milestones;
- Prepare cases for attorney review in an organized and substantially complete condition;
- Implement attorney revisions and finalize filings accurately;
- Follow up proactively with clients and internal team members to prevent cases from becoming stagnant;
- Maintain accurate case status information in the firm's case management system; and
- Work collaboratively with attorney and support staff while independently managing assigned responsibilities.

Success in this position means that assigned cases are organized, accurate, moving forward, and appropriately documented. Deadlines are tracked. Clients are followed up with. Problems are identified before they become emergencies. Attorney review is requested at the appropriate stage, with the file organized and ready for substantive review.

Immigration Experience
Strong experience in several of the following areas is required:
- Affirmative asylum;
- Defensive asylum and removal proceedings;
- Family-based petitions and adjustment of status;
- Consular processing;
- I-601 and I-601A waivers;
- VAWA;
- U visas and other humanitarian immigration matters;
- Naturalization;
- Motions and EOIR filings; and
- Requests for Evidence and other USCIS responses.
Experience exclusively in employment-based immigration will not satisfy the experience requirement for this position.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 4 years of substantive immigration law experience, preferably in family-based, humanitarian, asylum, and/or removal matters;
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a substantial immigration caseload;
- Excellent written English and strong drafting and editing skills;
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish;
- Exceptional attention to detail;
- Strong organizational and deadline-management skills;
- Experience preparing USCIS filings and familiarity with EOIR practice;
- Excellent client communication skills;
- Sound judgment regarding when an issue requires attorney attention;
- Strong technology skills and experience using legal case-management systems; and
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and independently move cases forward without requiring constant supervision.
