Temporary Immigration Attorney (Potential for Permanent Position)
The Law Office of Oscar Mendoza, PLLC is seeking a motivated and experienced Immigration Attorney to join our team on a full-time temporary basis for approximately 2–3 months. This position has the potential to become permanent depending on the needs of the firm and overall fit.
About the Position
We are a growing immigration law firm focused primarily on removal defense and humanitarian-based immigration matters. We are seeking an attorney who can assist with our active removal defense caseload and provide immediate support with upcoming immigration court deadlines and hearings.
Primary Responsibilities
- Appear at individual hearings before the Immigration Court
- Prepare clients for individual hearings
- Complete cross-service requirements and filing deadlines
- Review and organize hearing evidence and exhibits
- Draft motions and supporting filings as needed
- Coordinate with firm staff regarding case preparation and hearing strategy
- Maintain accurate case notes and updates
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
- Immigration law experience preferred
- Strong legal writing, advocacy, and client communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and court appearances effectively
- Spanish language skills are a plus but not required
Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience handling removal defense matters and appearing before the Immigration Courts. However, attorneys with some immigration law experience who are eager to learn and develop their litigation skills are encouraged to apply.
Compensation
Annual salary of $75,000 to $125,000, depending on experience. If the position becomes permanent, other benefits will be available, such as medical insurance, annual legal dues.
Schedule
- Full-time, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Temporary position (approximately 2–3 months)
- Potential for long-term or permanent employment based on firm needs and performance
