Spanish-Speaking Immigration Paralegal
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Spanish-Speaking Immigration Paralegal to join our Immigration Department. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of immigration law and procedures, including removal defense matters, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, assemble, and file a wide range of immigration petitions and applications, including:
- Family-based petitions
- Adjustment of Status applications
- Naturalization applications
- Asylum cases
- VAWA petitions
- U Visa applications
- Employment-based immigration petitions
- Removal Defense cases, including EOIR filings and court-related documentation
- Draft immigration forms, cover letters, legal correspondence, motions, and supporting documentation for attorney review.
- Communicate with clients in Spanish and English to gather required documentation and provide case updates.
- Maintain accurate case files and ensure all deadlines are met.
- Monitor case progress and prepare responses to Requests for Evidence (RFEs).
- Communicate with government agencies, including USCIS, NVC, EOIR, Immigration Courts, and other relevant entities.
- Assist attorneys with case preparation, court filings, hearing preparation, and case strategy development.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2–3 years of immigration law experience required, including experience with Removal Defense cases.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and verbal).
- Strong knowledge of USCIS forms, EOIR procedures, and immigration court processes.
- Experience preparing filings for Immigration Court, motions, applications for relief, and supporting evidence packets.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with immigration case management software is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling removal defense, asylum, cancellation of removal, waivers, and other forms of relief before Immigration Court.
- Familiarity with electronic filing systems, including ECAS and EOIR portals.
- Strong client-service orientation and professional demeanor.
