Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented experienced immigration legal staff member that is familiar with criminal law to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in immigration and criminal law. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, comply with deadlines and a commitment to providing high-quality legal support and customer service. Strong command of the English and Spanish languages, grammar and legal vocabulary. Candidate is able work well with others and independently.
Duties:
- Able to manage family-based immigration relief projects.
- Manage removal defense applications with related evidence.
- Strong case management skills and deadline compliance.
- Familiar with court efiling and service procedures.
- Strong research skills.
- Communicate effectively with clients, court staff and third parties.
- Maintain, and organize case files and capture information using our document management platform CLIO.
- Prepare filings according to firm standards, contributing to our mission and objectives.
- Attention to detail.
- Assist attorney with legal research and case management tasks
- Utilize legal research tools for case preparation
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws
Qualifications
- 1.5 years proven experience in a legal office environment setting with paralegal or legal assistant experience
- Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Proficient in using document management systems and legal research tools
- Familiarity with immigration and criminal information and filing platforms.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and colleagues
- Experience in clerical tasks such as transcription, filing, and data entry is essential
