Job Summary
Remote-first law firm is seeking for a proactive, quick to adapt, tech-savy Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join the team. This role requires solid understanding of legal terminology and processes, writing abilities, and eventually ability to perform repetitive tasks with minimal supervision.
The law firm is setting its foot to the market and you will be a second team member. Managing attorney expects a person who is willing to help build the law firm and improve its processes.
This position is remote with some need for in-person presence. Candidate should be living in or around Hudson Region, NY (Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Sullivan, Rockland, Ulster, or Westchester counties). The law firm provides a wide range of general legal services, without limitation: civil litigation, business and consumer law, immigration law.
The person will be working together with an attorney and is expected to be ready to perform a wide range of legal practice tasks, such as:
Organize and maintain case files, exhibits, and other legal paperwork to ensure all information is readily accessible.
Manage court filings, mailing, deadlines and calendars.
Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials to relay information and updates on case progress
Interviewing clients and gathering facts (strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills are required)
Draft, proofread, and prepare legal documents such as contracts, wills, pleadings, motions, affidavits, and briefs; preparing other documentation for attorney's review (w/ attorney's supervision).

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
