Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our dynamic immigration law team, with a strong focus on removal defense and USCIS matters. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in preparing and managing immigration cases, ensuring timely and accurate documentation, client communication, and procedural compliance. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a solid understanding of immigration law processes.

Location Requirement
This position is open to remote candidates residing outside of Utah. However, if you currently reside in Utah, you will be expected to work in-office at our local location.

Key Responsibilities

Assist attorneys with preparing filings for removal defense, asylum, cancellation of removal, and other immigration court matters.
Draft, review, and organize applications and petitions for USCIS, including I-130, I-485, I-589, N-400, and related forms.
Prepare legal filings, exhibits, and supporting documentation for EOIR proceedings and USCIS interviews.
Maintain and update case files, deadlines, and client records using case management software.
Coordinate biometrics appointments, medical evaluations, translations, and other client case needs.
Communicate with clients regarding case status, required documents, and upcoming hearings/interviews.
Conduct research related to immigration law, country conditions, and individual case facts.
Manage attorney calendars, schedule court hearings and USCIS interviews, and ensure timely filings.
Assist with drafting motions, briefs, and affidavits under attorney supervision.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience or strong interest in immigration law, particularly in removal defense and USCIS filings.
Familiarity with legal case management software (e.g., PCLaw, Clio, LawLogix, or similar).
Knowledge of EOIR and USCIS procedures and forms is highly desirable.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple active cases in a fast-paced environment.
Clear and professional communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish) are a strong plus.
Prior experience in a law firm or immigration legal setting preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
