Legal Receptionist / Immigration Legal Assistant Trainee

Overview

Busy immigration law office seeking a reliable, organized, and compassionate person to join our team. Our office handles a large number of immigration court cases and works daily with clients from many different countries, including many clients with limited English ability.

This position is the first point of contact for our clients and is an important part of keeping cases organized and moving forward. Legal experience is helpful but not required — we will train the right person.

Duties

Answering phones and assisting clients

Greeting and helping walk-in clients

Scheduling appointments and maintaining calendars

Conducting client intakes and gathering basic case information

Monitoring and organizing office email

Scanning, saving, and organizing documents

Communicating with clients about documents and appointments

Assisting attorneys and legal staff with immigration filings

Learning to prepare immigration forms and case materials

Skills

Strong computer skills required

Good typing/keyboarding ability

Ability to learn new computer systems quickly

Excellent organization and attention to detail

Friendly and professional communication skills

Ability to stay calm in a busy office environment

Willingness to work with people from different cultures and backgrounds

Dependable and able to manage multiple tasks

Prior immigration experience is not required. We are looking for someone intelligent, motivated, and interested in learning.

Bilingual ability is a plus.

Full-time position with opportunity to grow into a larger legal assistant role.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
