About Mil Mujeres Legal Services

Mil Mujeres Legal Services is a multistate nonprofit organization dedicated to providing immigration legal services to low-income survivors of violent crimes and their families. Our primary focus is assisting survivors of gender-based violence, ensuring they receive legal representation and support throughout the immigration process.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Immigration Staff Attorney to provide coverage during a maternity leave beginning in August 2026. This is a full-time remote position with the possibility of becoming a permanent role based on performance and organizational needs.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide direct legal representation in humanitarian immigration cases, including U Visa, VAWA, and asylum applications.
Conduct legal screenings and assess eligibility for immigration relief.
Prepare and review immigration applications and supporting documentation.
Maintain organized and accurate case files using case management software.
Collaborate closely with paralegals and support staff to ensure timely case progression.
Stay current on immigration laws, regulations, and policies related to humanitarian relief.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Minimum one (1) year of experience in immigration law.
Experience handling humanitarian immigration cases, including U Visa and VAWA matters.
Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

Fluency in Spanish.
Experience with asylum cases, including affirmative and defensive asylum matters.
Membership in good standing with a state bar.
