Job Description
Ballon Stoll P.C., a New York law firm with over 90 years of experience providing legal services across multiple practice areas, including a heavy concentration in immigration law, is seeking an Immigration Attorney with at least 5 years of experience to manage and supervise the firm’s Asylum and Removal Proceedings Department by, among other things, reviewing all case filings and other relevant documents and ensuring the highest caliber legal product at every stage.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve all EOIR and other pertinent filings, including motions, relief requests (e.g., bond, parole, etc.), briefs, and supporting evidence for removal defense matters, including Asylum, Withholding of Removal, and CAT applications; Cancellation of Removal; Adjustment of Status and waivers; Habeas Corpus; Appeals; and Motions to Reopen, Reconsider, and Terminate/ Dismiss/ Administratively Close
- Prepare and review USCIS applications, petitions, and supporting evidence packets
- Supervise and collaborate with non-attorney managers and paralegals in preparing and correcting filings, supporting exhibits, applications, motions, etc.; coordinating clients’ cases; ensuring adherence to court and other deadlines; and maintaining active client communication
- Keep current on evolving immigration laws, regulations, and policies affecting EOIR and USCIS practices
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or foreign LL.M. degree from an accredited U.S. law school
- Duly admitted, licensed to practice law, and in good standing in a state in the United States as well as the Immigration Court
- Minimum of 5 years of substantive immigration law experience, specifically in EOIR litigation and USCIS applications and interviews
- Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple matters and personnel in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable using myriad legal research and case management platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, Bitrix, NetDocuments, TimeSolv, etc.)
- Language Skills: Proficiency in Russian, Tajik, Uzbek, or Georgian preferable but not mandatory
Salary
- $125,000-$175,000; commensurate with experience
