Green | Evans-Schroeder (GES) is recruiting to fill two full-time removal defense attorney positions , one in our Tucson office, and one in our Phoenix (Tempe) office , focusing on immigration court removal defense practice. The senior attorneys filling these roles will act as the lead attorney of a team of lawyers and paralegals that focus their practice in Arizona's immigration courts. Although hybrid work is generally allowed and encouraged, these positions require the applicants to reside in, or relocate to, either Tucson or Phoenix. In the event of relocation, the firm provides additional, generous financial compensation to cover moving costs.

Summary
Our law firm is seeking two full-time removal defense attorneys to litigate trial-level cases before Arizona’s immigration courts and to lead a small team of attorneys and paralegals. For more than twenty years, removal defense has been the foundation of our practice, and we are nationally recognized for progressive, client-centered immigration advocacy. As demand for our representation continues to grow, we are expanding our leadership capacity by recruiting highly qualified and experienced attorneys who are committed to excellence in client representation and to mentoring and supporting the next generation of removal defense practitioners.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a reasonably-sized caseload of detained and non-detained removal defense cases in Arizona's immigration courts.
- Stay up to date on substantive and procedural developments in removal-defense law, with special attention to changes affecting immigration court practice in Arizona.
- Serve as the first point of contact for substantive and procedural questions from the 2-3 other attorneys on your team.
- Work closely with the firm’s partners to ensure that your mentoring time is used efficiently and effectively, with the goal of helping the firm’s removal-defense attorneys become as independent as possible.
- Collaborate with the firm's leadership team to identify training and development requirements for the firm's removal defense attorneys.
- Effectively communicate with other attorneys and experts in the field—locally and nationally—to leverage as much knowledge and advice as possible for the benefit of our clients.
- Analyze the immigration consequences of criminal convictions by providing “Padilla consults” to criminal defense attorneys.
- Perform consultations for potential clients who are interested in the law firm’s service.

What You’ll Bring
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Must be licensed to practice law by the highest court of any state
- Minimum seven years’ removal defense experience
- Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred but not required
