Since 1986, the AIDS Center of Queens County, Inc. (ACQC) has provided HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and advocacy for individuals throughout NYC. ACQC’s Legal Services Program represents clients in a wide range of civil matters including housing, social security disability, HRA public benefits, immigration, and advance directives. ACQC seeks a full-time experienced Staff Attorney to provide direct representation to low-income clients with chronic health challenges.
Required Qualifications Staff Attorney
- Admission to the New York State Bar (Required)
- Client-centered approach to representation
- Motivated to represent a diverse clientele
- Experience in representing clients in housing court/ landlord-tenant litigation
- Experience in drafting advance directives
- Experience in representing clients at social security disability hearings.
- Experience in public benefits
- Excellent research, writing and organizational skills
- Sensitivity to HIV/AIDS community, and ethnic, cultural and sexual minorities.
The Staff Attorney is a full-time, exempt position based in Jamaica, Queens.
