Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Immigration Case Manager/Senior Paralegal to join its dynamic legal team. The Case Manager/Paralegal will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex immigration matters and supporting the legal team with research, drafting, client communications, and case oversight. This role also includes supervisory and mentoring responsibilities, serving as a resource for junior team members and contributing to the smooth operation of casework and internal workflows. The position has remote flexibility or hybrid in Rhode Island.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned caseload of immigration matters in order to ensure that cases are completed in a timely manner, and that deadlines are diligently observed
- Draft and prepare support letters and forms for immigration matters, including advanced matters such as Request for Evidence (RFE) responses, nunc pro tunc submissions, complex case histories/fact patterns, highly technical positions, etc
- Assemble and curate exhibits
- Carefully and effectively incorporate all supervisor feedback into immigration filings,
- Review documents and materials and identify issues including gaps in status, J-1 issues, unauthorized employment, lack of educational/professional qualifications, etc.), as well as routine issues such as missing documentation or general status issues
- Perform research, draft routine correspondence
- Serve as a peer resource for junior team members to provide mentorship, feedback and answer appropriate case/process questions
- Collect, sort, and organize client records and case materials in
- Maintain and update practice management systems
- Oversee case production operations
- Monitor case timelines/deadlines, and keep attorneys apprised of any relevant timing issues
- Assign cases and adjust workload allocation to ensure that deadlines are met
- Examine and address questions or case issues raised by Paralegals
- Function as a primary case reviewer for draft submissions
- Prepare case summaries and other documents to support case preparation and assist attorney in client communication on potential issues
- Facilitate communications between client and team by acting as the primary point-of- contact for both, including providing updates to clients on progress of a case
- Establish good working relationships with clients
- Generate reports for case teams and oversee report generation for clients
- Ensure team is following firm protocol with respect to file maintenance, record-keeping and use of case management system
- Track and monitor the status of immigration submissions
Qualifications
- 3-5 years immigration experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence in immigration law and knowledge of common case issues and adjudication practices
- Strong verbal, written, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to show initiative, multi-task, prioritize work as part of a team and willingness to take on added responsibilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to adapt quickly to firm-specific software
- Excellent time management skills
