Ruvalcaba Hernández Law Firm, PLLC is seeking a full-time In-Person Staff Attorney with a strong background in removal defense to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. This role will primarily involve representing detained and non-detained clients in removal proceedings, including custody redetermination (bond) hearings, but may also involve family-based and humanitarian immigration cases.

The ideal candidate is bilingual in Spanish, experienced in removal defense, and ready to manage a diverse caseload with professionalism, efficiency, and compassion. Employment compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in immigration court, including detained and non-detained individuals in master and individual hearings, both locally and out of state.
- Handle bond (custody redetermination) hearings, prepare filings, and advocate for client release.
- Visit in-state and out-state detention centers to meet with clients as needed.
- Prepare a variety of defensive and affirmative immigration filings, including but not limited to: asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, waivers, VAWA, U/T visas, I-751 waivers, naturalization, and SIJS.
- Develop and execute legal strategies; prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS interviews.
- Conduct thorough and efficient consultations, both in-person and by phone.
- Present to or collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations when necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of current immigration law developments and communicate updates to clients and staff.
- Travel as needed in and out of state to attend immigration court hearings, USCIS interviews, and detention facility visits.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school (Texas license preferred but not required)
- Active bar license in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction)
- Fluent in Spanish (required)
- 1+ year of immigration law experience strongly preferred
- Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, and case management skills
- Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and social justice
- Ability to manage a high-volume, deadline-driven caseload
- Experience with case management software preferred
Job Type: Full-time (exempt)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week (additional hours as needed)
Location: Hybrid; In-person at our San Antonio office and remotely, as needed.
Travel: Required (local and out-of-state)
