Immediate need for full-time Immigration Paralegals for one of the area's premier firms in Immigration and Customs Law. Experience preferred. Position(s) available immediately. Please submit resume and cover letter to apply. Salary commensurate with experience.
Immigration Paralegal Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years previous experience as an immigration paralegal or other legal field preferred.
- Bilingual skills are highly sought after to provide seamless communication with clients.
- Familiarity with legal research
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, yet be an active contributor in a focused work team.
- Strong attention to detail and skill in proofreading complex documents.
- Clerical skills with an emphasis on case management.
- Knowledge of immigration forms, how to fill them out, and how to file them is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases at different stages.
- Communication skills to keep both the attorney and client informed of the process.
- Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Knowledge of immigration case file system ImmigrantPro is a plus.
Immigration Paralegal Responsibilities:
- Meet with Clients on a regular basis.
- Obtaining proper documents and helping a client understand them.
- Translating the process and requirements from an attorney to the client.
- Maintain correspondence with clients, including updating them on filings, case status, appointments, etc.
- Researching requirements for various immigration-related legal issues.
- Drafting forms for petitions/applications to be filed with various U.S. government agencies.
- Record and store and maintaining client information and case files.
- Updating clients on progress and explaining next steps.
- Operate standard office equipment on a regular basis, including a copy machine and a computer.
- May assist with drafting and filing court-related documents with Immigration Court.
- Conduct research to support legal proceedings and investigate facts to help in the negotiation of legal disputes.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations .
- Other duties as assigned.
