Specifically, we are interested in attorneys with demonstrated experience and accomplishment in the following areas:
- Brief writing for cases pending at the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and other projects that our firm may be in a position to assign include motions before the BIA and the Ninth Circuit, petitions for review, notices of appeal, and motions for stay (and replies);
- I-601 and I-601A cover letter briefing, U visa application cover letters, briefs in support of affirmative and defensive applications for asylum-based relief, and briefs in support of defensive applications for discretionary relief, such as Cancellation of Removal and Adjustment of Status;
- General experience with family-based affirmative applications, primarily adjustment of status, consular processing, and naturalization.
- Working directly with clients and witnesses over the phone and via Zoom or Teams to prepare written declarations, and to prepare them for remote testimony.
- Preparing for and representing clients remotely in immigration court and during their credible fear hearings.
Applicants for this position are expected to perform conflicts checks pursuant to the rules of professional conduct which apply to the jurisdiction in which they are licensed. They are also expected to have access to their own legal research resources. Access to our law firm's electronic and research databases will not be provided to independent contractors to ensure that any potential conflicts of interest arising from the inadvertent release of our clients' confidential information does not occur.
