Passage Immigration Law helps individuals, families and businesses navigate the U.S. immigration maze. Our headquarters are in Portland, Oregon and we have satellite offices in Seattle, Washington, and Los Angeles, California.
We are seeking to hire a full time immigration attorney with at least two years of removal defense experience. This attorney position will focus upon representing clients in removal proceedings, including preparing and filing motions, drafting legal briefs, and applications for relief, such as asylum or cancellation of removal.
We are targeting a full time, enthusiastic attorney who can start as soon as possible. We are looking for a lawyer located in Portland Oregon who is able to come in regularly rather than work remotely. We have a beautiful office in the Pearl District and benefit from the in-person training and camaraderie.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct in-person, video and phone consultations with clients facing removal proceedings. Analyze their legal situation and propose defense strategies.
- Represent clients in immigration court, preparing and presenting strong arguments for relief such as asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, or waivers of inadmissibility.
- Potentially advocate for individuals in bond hearings to secure release from detention and provide ongoing counsel on detention-related issues.
- Assist clients with post-order relief, including motions to reopen, appeals to the BIA, and petitions for review before federal courts.
- Manage open cases and communicate with clients by email and phone.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Member of state bar (preferably State of Oregon).
- At least two years of experience working as an immigration attorney in removal defense context.
- Strong analytical and strategic problem solving skills with extreme attention to detail.
- Superb interpersonal skills and track record of getting along well with colleagues and clients.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Fluency in another language is a plus.
