What you should know: Mulberry has partnered with a mature, small local law firm who works with ambition in Downtown Portland to hire a Legal Assistant. They specialize in family law and civil litigation. You will support their insurance defense team of attorneys. The team is professional, collaborative, and values steady, detail-oriented support. Legal Assistants here are trusted partners—relied on to manage deadlines, organize case materials, and communicate effectively with clients, courts, and opposing counsel. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

A day in the life:

Prepare case files for hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
Maintain attorney calendars, schedule court dates, depositions, client meetings, and deadlines.
File legal documents electronically with state and federal courts (e-filing).
Organize and manage case files, including physical and digital records, in compliance with firm procedures.
Coordinate with clients, experts, medical providers, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
Process incoming and outgoing mail, including confidential and time-sensitive documents.
Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, file organization, copying, scanning, and transcription.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all communications and document handling.

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:

Bachelor’s degree highly desired
2+ years of experience as a legal assistant
Experience in insurance defense is required
Strong knowledge of Orgon Civil Procedures
Ability to work with various personality types, and adaptability
Must be highly organized, able to work independently, multi-task, prioritize, and be a strong communicator

Compensation and Benefits: $29-32/HR working on a 37.5-hour work week schedule. Benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, pre-tax transportation benefits, 401k, vacation and sick time, and more!
