Job Summary:

Villacorta Law PS is seeking a full-time associate attorney to join its growing immigration practice. This is first and foremost a client-representation role: approximately 80% of the work consists of attending and representing clients at USCIS interviews and Immigration Court (EOIR) hearings, with the remaining 20% consisting of administrative casework that supports those appearances. The ideal candidate will be driven, professional, personable, and reliable, working under the direction of a supervising attorney. New attorneys are welcome — no prior experience practicing as an attorney is required.

Key Responsibilities

USCIS and Immigration Court Representation (approximately 80% of the role)

Attend and represent clients at USCIS interviews — adjustment of status (I-485), naturalization (N-400), asylum, and related matters.
Appear and advocate for clients at Immigration Court (EOIR) hearings, including master calendar and individual hearings.
Prepare clients thoroughly before every interview and hearing, and debrief with the client and supervising attorney afterward.

Administrative Casework (approximately 20% of the role)

Prepare and submit petitions and supporting filings before USCIS — family petitions, removal defense, waivers, consular processing — and respond to Requests for Evidence (RFEs).
Conduct client intake reviews, maintain communication with clients, provide updates, and manage expectations.

Case Management

Update the case management system (Docketwise) and monitor case progress and deadlines from inception to completion.
Ensure thorough documentation and compliance with procedural deadlines.

Legal Research and Drafting

Conduct legal research to support client cases and prepare motions, briefs, and appeals.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law — bar membership in good standing is required (any U.S. state; Washington State Bar membership a plus).
Preferably bilingual, (Spanish).
Preferably resides in the greater Seattle area — the role involves regular in-person appearances at USCIS and the Immigration Court.
No prior experience as an attorney required — new attorneys are encouraged to apply. Experience with Docketwise (immigration case management software) is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in legal research and drafting.

Working Conditions:

This position requires regular attendance at the office and frequent in-person appearances at USCIS and the Immigration Court in the Seattle area, along with the ability to respond to the diverse needs of clients, vendors, and team members in a fast-paced environment.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for employment at Villacorta Law, candidates must have U.S. work authorization and successfully pass a background check.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,631.81 per year
