Compensation:

$25.50 - $28.50 hourly

Responsibilities:

Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings
Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining an organized filing system for all legal documents
Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings such as complaints, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits, under the supervision of a lawyer
Conduct interviews with clients to gather information about their legal issues

Preparing USCIS application forms and memorandum in support of filings before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for immigrant and non-immigrant visas
Conduct legal research and analysis related to immigration law, including researching and interpreting relevant statutes, regulations, and case law
Prepare and review legal documents, including petitions, applications, pleadings, legal briefs, and other filings, to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings and trials, including preparing exhibits, conducting witness interviews, gathering evidence, assisting with client meetings, and filing motions
Hold client interviews to gather information about their legal problems
Manage and organize immigration cases, including tracking deadlines, maintaining case files, and communicating with clients and other parties
Perform other administrative duties as needed to support the attorneys and the immigration practice

Qualifications:

3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education
Candidates should possess high-level organizational skills, and time-management skills
Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired

Strong knowledge of immigration law and relevant regulations and statutes
Minimum of 3 years of immigration law-related work experience under the supervision of a licensed attorney or in a law firm setting
Extensive knowledge of visa, permanent residency, and secondary benefit applications and substantial experience in preparing such petition packages
Excellent legal research and analysis skills
Ability to prepare and review legal documents accurately and efficiently
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with legal case management systems and software is a plus
