Galan Law Firm, PLLC is an immigration and personal injury practice with offices in San Antonio and Edinburg, Texas. We serve families across South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley. We're looking for a skilled, bilingual Immigration Attorney to join our legal team and help serve clients at both offices.

The Role

The Immigration Attorney can be based in either San Antonio or Edinburg and will travel regularly to the other office. You'll handle a varied caseload across the firm's full range of immigration practice areas. You'll work closely with our Managing Partner, attorneys, paralegals and intake team to move cases forward efficiently and keep clients informed at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

Manage an active immigration caseload from consultation through resolution
Prepare, review and file petitions and applications with USCIS, the Department of State and EOIR
Represent clients in interviews, hearings and court appearances, including before the San Antonio and Harlingen Immigration Courts
Conduct client consultations in English and Spanish, and explain legal options clearly and compassionately
Respond to Requests for Evidence (RFEs), Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs) and other agency correspondence
Supervise and guide paralegals and legal assistants on case preparation
Travel between the San Antonio and Edinburg offices as caseload and client needs require
Stay current on changes in immigration law, policy and agency procedure

Candidates should be familiar with, or ready to quickly master, the following:

Family-based petitions and Adjustment of Status
Consular processing
VAWA self-petitions
U Visas and T Visas
Waivers of inadmissibility (I-601, I-601A, I-212)
Naturalization and citizenship
DACA
Removal defense and cancellation of removal

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
Active law license in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction (Texas Bar preferred)
Full professional fluency in English and Spanish, spoken and written (required)
Immigration law experience across multiple practice areas; 2+ years preferred
Willingness to live in San Antonio or Edinburg and travel regularly between offices
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Strong organization, time management and attention to detail
A client-centered approach and a sincere commitment to immigrant communities
