We are seeking an Associate attorney (any state bar) to join our team of immigration litigators. We primarily practice before EOIR and the federal courts. A working knowledge of ECAS, EROP, and PACER is required. 1-2 years of relevant experience is preferred, meaning you’ve handled removal matters through IJ decision, and written appeals to the Board.

Our office operates at a high level and makes law regularly in front of immigration judges, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and federal trial and appellate courts. We seek an individual with practical skills, compassion for clients, and dedication to advancing immigrant rights.

Responsibilities:

Assist, assign or preparation of immigration forms (I-130, I-485, I-601A, N-400, I-589, EOIR motions, etc.) with para staff.
Draft affidavits, support letters, and cover letters
Assist, Assign, or Assemble and file application packages with USCIS, DOS, and EOIR
Communicate with clients and gather documentation
Track case progress and maintain deadlines
Conduct legal and country conditions research
Appear at EOIR Chicago for master calendar and individual calendar hearings
Appear at US CIS for interviews
Appear at ICE for deferred inspections and removal matters as required
Travel 2x-3x per year for interviews or court appearances, usually one night each trip.
High ethical standards, compassion for clients, and dedication to advancing human rights.

Skills & Experience:

Experience with Web Ex appearances and ECAS/EROP;
Excellent writing skills, with experience briefing complicated crimigration issues;
Familiarity with FRCP and FRAP, and Immigration Court and BIA Practice Manuals;
EROP and PACER filings for various federal district courts and CCAs;
Experience with labor certification and EB-1 &2 and NIW filings preferred;
Fluency in Spanish preferred.

The position is a hybrid with 2-3 days per week in a downtown Chicago office in a collegial, pleasant and quiet environment. Other days you may attend court and will be welcome to work from home in the afternoon writing briefs and submissions. We are flexible and professional employers. Salary will be commensurate with your experience. Newer, ambitious litigators are welcome.
