About
I am a Secret-level security cleared Senior Program Officer with the Canadian Federal Government at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), specializing in immigration intelligence and enforcement. As a new legal permanent resident of the United States, authorized to work without company sponsorship, I am aiming to transition my career from Canadian immigration law to a Paralegal role in American immigration law, and apply my expertise to help a dynamic firm that represents foreign nationals through the complex immigration process.
I have nearly 20 years of experience in Canadian immigration case management and analyzing immigration workflows to provide actionable insights to both inland and port of entry operations, as well as experience interviewing asylum seekers. I have significant experience in immigration business intelligence, identifying compliance issues, and investigating violations of laws, regulations, policies and procedures. I am the recipient of the CBSA Regional Director General Award of Excellence for teamwork on a high-profile immigration audit.
One of my key strengths is, I worked in both immigration facilitation and immigration enforcement operations, as well as regional and national headquarters. This dynamic combination has helped me develop a well-rounded profile. I have the ability to respond to immediate needs, work in a high-pressure environment under strict timelines with significant implications, while being a strategic planner and honing analytical, research and writing skills.
I have also had the privilege of supplementing my current work experience by learning valuable professional skills through the University of Miami Paralegal Certificate Program. This includes conducting legal research using Lexis and Westlaw, drafting legal documents, understanding the fundamental components of 14 substantial areas of law, and studying the structure of the legal system in the United States.
