About
Most immigration attorneys bring legal training to practice. I bring something additional: two decades of firsthand experience navigating the regulatory frameworks that govern the international workforce. As a Senior Pilot Scheduler at Delta Air Lines and a Crew Recovery specialist at JetBlue Airways, I managed FAR Part 117 compliance, coordinated multinational crews on international routes, and operated daily at the intersection of workforce management and federal regulation. The same intersection that defines employment-based immigration practice. That background, combined with my J.D. training, H-1B certification from the Corporate Immigration Compliance Institute, and extensive AILA coursework, is why I am applying for the Immigration Associate/Law Clerk position at [Firm/Organization Name].
My legal experience spans immigration court observation, policy research, and family court practice. As an immigration court observer with the Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network, I attended detained and non-detained hearings at the Atlanta Immigration Court and prepared hearing reports that staff attorneys used to identify systemic patterns in removal proceedings. At the North Carolina Governor's Council's Office, I researched H-1B visa legislation and drafted briefing materials on immigration policy for senior advisors. This work required the same precision and regulatory fluency I now bring to legal practice. My AILA certifications cover the full spectrum of immigration work: removal defense, asylum, H-1B, PERM, EB-5, consular processing, federal district court litigation, and AI in immigration law. I also hold IINTCAP diplomas in U.S., Canadian, Schengen, and Dominican Republic immigration systems, thus giving me a comparative international perspective that is increasingly valuable in global mobility and cross-border family matters.
As a fluent speaker of Spanish, Portuguese, and Papiamento with decades of experience serving multilingual communities, including serving as Spanish Desk Supervisor at US Airways and as a crew recovery coordinator for international routes, I am prepared to represent immigrant clients directly without interpreter delays. My upcoming summer internship at the International Rescue Committee will deepen my direct-client experience with refugees and asylum seekers. I will sit for the bar examination in July 2026 and anticipate admission shortly thereafter.
I welcome the opportunity to discuss how my regulatory background, immigration certifications, and multilingual capabilities can serve your clients and strengthen your team. A writing sample is available upon request. Thank you for your consideration.
