About
Having personally navigated immigration processes in two countries and lived on three continents, I understand immigration from both sides: the operational discipline required to keep complex matters moving and the uncertainty an employee may feel while waiting for a decision that affects work, family, and life plans. With more than five years of U.S. employment-based immigration experience supporting multinational corporate clients, I am excited to bring that perspective to Figma as an Immigration Program Manager.
In my current practice, I handle more than 150 employment-based immigration matters a year, coordinating with foreign national employees, corporate stakeholders, and attorneys throughout the immigration case lifecycle. I also bring knowledge of I-9 requirements and related employer considerations from a law-firm perspective. That experience has taught me how to balance urgency, accuracy, and empathy while keeping multiple stakeholders aligned. I anticipate issues before they disrupt progress and minimize “surprises,” clarify responsibilities and next steps, and ensure employees and business partners receive timely, practical support throughout a process that can otherwise feel daunting, complex, and uncertain.
Figma’s emphasis on a high-touch employee experience strongly resonates with my approach to immigration. Beyond collecting required documentation, I help employees understand its purpose, what to expect next, and how each step connects to the broader process. As a native English and Spanish speaker with basic proficiency in Portuguese and Italian, I bring a cross-cultural perspective shaped by experience supporting the EMEA, JAPAC, and LATAM regions. My earlier career teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) further strengthened my ability to assess an audience’s needs and turn complex information into clear, practical guidance—an approach I would apply to Figma’s resources, FAQs, playbooks, and stakeholder training while remaining attentive to regional and cultural differences.
I am equally drawn to the program-building side of the role. At Butzel Long, I have developed standardized intake procedures, questionnaires, document requests, communications, and workflow templates to strengthen consistency, information gathering, efficiency, and the employee and corporate stakeholder experience. I also maintain detailed case and deadline information and use technology, including immigration case-management systems and AI-enabled productivity tools, to support accuracy, visibility, and recurring workflows. I would bring that same process-focused mindset to Figma’s immigration and global mobility programs while continuing to grow into broader mobility, compliance, and cross-functional initiatives.
Figma’s “Grow as you go” value matters to me because this role builds on my immigration experience while supporting the next step I am intentionally pursuing: moving from law-firm operations to broader in-house program ownership. I have taken a similar growth-oriented approach in ESL education, creating elective classes to strengthen adult learners’ grammar and writing skills and streamlining a high school ESL program in Sydney, Australia, including developing a practical cooking course, to better meet students' academic and cultural awareness needs. I would welcome the opportunity to bring that same initiative—along with my immigration knowledge—to develop an organized, responsive, and scalable immigration experience as Figma grows.
Thank you for your consideration. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this position further.
