DWTSurge Contract Immigration Paralegal (Remote)
Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking an experienced immigration paralegal for engagement through the firm’s alternative-track paralegal staffing program, DWTSurge. The selected paralegal will work with the Immigration practice group handling all aspects of business immigration matters, including nonimmigrant visas (H-1B, L-1, E, TN, O-1, B-1, F-1); consular processing; and immigrant visas (EB1, EB2, EB3, and PERM). The paralegal may coordinate with in-house HR or in-house counsel on immigration sponsorship cases. Although the selected paralegal may work remotely, they should expect hours to fluctuate based on the client’s schedule and time zone.
This contract position offers the flexibility of remote work and anticipated full-time hours. Hours may fluctuate depending on the availability of appropriate work and a minimum number of hours per week is not guaranteed. This role experiences cyclical workload patterns, including periods of higher demand followed by slower intervals. Candidates should be comfortable and flexible in adjusting to these fluctuations. The engagement is for an initial 6-month contract term. There is a high possibility of renewal for successful candidates, although any extension or renewal is not guaranteed. We are looking for paralegals interested in establishing a long-term working relationship with DWT on an exclusive basis.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 4+ years of immigration experience, with a focus on business immigration, at a mid-sized or large law firm and/or with large institutional clients.
- Residency in one of the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OR, PA*, TN, TX, VA, WA, WDC, or WV. (*jurisdiction specific)
- Excellent skills drafting and reviewing filings for accuracy and legal sufficiency.
- Experience assisting with USCIS, consular processing, and client interview preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cases across multiple visa categories, including E, L, H-1B, EB-5, and PERM cases from initial consultation through approval.
- Experience handling INSZoom or similar immigration database software is preferred.
- Availability to work remotely while accommodating the client’s schedule and time zone, which may include mornings, evenings/overnight hours, and weekends.
- Flexibility for anticipated hours to fluctuate as needed.
- Excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to produce high quality work product with minimal supervision and direction.
- Excellent proactive communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate verbally and in writing, with clients, firm members, and other business contacts.
Please note that this is a temporary contract position managed by DWT’s flexible staff program, DWTSurge. Compensation will be paid on an hourly basis, commensurate with experience and skill level (see below). This role is eligible for benefits. Salary Range
The hourly range for this position in CA, IL, MD, MN, NY, OR, WA, and WDC is $50 to $60 per hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
