The Human Resources Immigration Specialist is responsible to oversee and support the company's immigration programs by working closely with HR Business Partners, Recruiting, Management, employees and external immigration counsel. In this role you will be the subject matter expert and point of contact with questions and case filings. This is a long-term contract opportunity with no defined end date, supporting core, ongoing immigration operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with outside immigration counsel to ensure full compliance with immigration laws;
- Facilitate the immigration process including non-immigrant (i. e. OPT/STEM, EAD, H-1B, TN, L-I and J visas) and immigration petitions (permanent residence sponsorship) as it relates to extensions, amendments, transfers, and terminations;
- Educate hiring managers and employees about Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of Labor and Department of State regulations;
- Respond to all immigration questions, review issues and employee concerns and provide counsel and education in regards to immigration guidelines, legal requirements and procedures;
- Compile and write visa and immigration reports to ensure compliance with all federal and state laws and acclimation to changes in employment law;
- Advise employees regarding restriction for travel outside of the US and general direction related to the visa process;
- Evaluate foreign national credentials and resolve immigration issues;
- Create or revise corporate immigration policies. Identify ways to streamline and standardize immigration processes;
- Manage visa expiration dates for all foreign nationals and files cases in a timely manner;
- Provides updates to HR Business Partners, Recruiting and employees about visa processes;
- Maintain knowledge of changes in immigration policies/regulations and communicate to stakeholders timely;
- Reviews and tracks vendor invoices and payments relating to immigration;
- May assist human resources team on other compliance projects as needed;
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of employment- based immigration experience.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential employee information appropriately.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
- Strong MS Office skills.
