Job Title: Paralegal – Civil Federal Litigation (Including Habeas Work)

Overview:
CRW Law seeks a skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal to assist attorneys in civil federal litigation , including habeas corpus matters , hearings, and trial preparation. This position offers the flexibility to work in-house in our El Paso office or remotely . The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and strong organizational skills while managing complex litigation in a fast-paced federal practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Federal Litigation Support
- Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and discovery in federal court.
- Manage and organize case files, records, and exhibits using electronic filing systems (CM/ECF, PACER).
- Conduct legal and factual research; cite-check and proofread all filings.
- Track and manage litigation deadlines, hearings, and trial schedules.
Habeas Corpus and Post-Conviction Work
- Prepare and file habeas petitions and related pleadings.
- Review case records, transcripts, and prior filings to prepare case summaries and issue outlines.
- Monitor habeas deadlines and ensure timely communication with clients and courts.
Hearing and Trial Preparation
- Prepare trial notebooks, witness lists, and exhibit binders.
- Coordinate and assist with depositions, hearings, and trial logistics.
- Summarize depositions, discovery responses, and evidentiary materials.
- Provide direct support to attorneys during hearings and trial proceedings.
Administrative and Case Management
- Maintain and update case databases and calendars.
- Draft correspondence and manage communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
- Ensure compliance with local and federal court rules and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field (or equivalent legal experience).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in federal civil litigation ; habeas or post-conviction experience strongly preferred.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and CM/ECF/PACER systems.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of federal civil and habeas procedures.
