Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our client's legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience in real estate law or hold a paralegal certificate and a willingness to learn! This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and proficiency in legal research and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in the preparation of legal documents including contracts, pleadings, and motions.
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Manage case files and maintain organized documentation through document management systems like iManage.
- Perform document review and transcription tasks to ensure accuracy in all legal filings.
- Interview clients and witnesses to gather pertinent information for cases.
- Provide executive administrative support including data entry, filing, and clerical tasks.
- Coordinate project management tasks related to ongoing cases and legal matters.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while adhering to ethical standards in legal practice.
- Utilize software such as PCLaw for case management and billing processes.
- Stay updated on changes in laws relevant to areas such as environmental law, immigration law, and workers' compensation law.
Qualifications
- Proven paralegal experience with a strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
- Familiarity with real estate law is preferred.
- Proficient in legal drafting, proofreading, writing skills, and conducting detailed research.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
- Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal communication skills for client interaction.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- A background within a law office setting is advantageous however, those with a paralegal certificate looking to gain experience will also be considered.
