The Role and Impact
As a founding Legal Assistant or Paralegal, you will be a critical pillar of the firm. Your impact will be immediate and significant. Key responsibilities will include:
- Playing a key role in establishing the firm's client communication standards, serving as a primary point of contact for clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
- Developing and managing the firm's electronic court filing (ECF) processes in federal and state systems, ensuring all documents are filed accurately and efficiently.
- Handling the critical task of ordering medical records for personal injury and litigation cases, including diligent follow-up to ensure timely receipt.
- Preparing and drafting initial legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and discovery requests using and refining the new firm's templates.
- Assisting clients in completing complex legal forms, particularly for immigration petitions and applications, with the utmost precision and care.
- Helping to design and maintain organized, efficient, and scalable physical and digital case file systems.
- Providing comprehensive administrative support that will shape the workflow for the firm's attorneys, including calendar management and meeting coordination.
Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal in a law firm setting.
- High proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat is required.
- Direct experience with electronic filing systems (ECF/PACER) is essential.
- Experience in immigration law is a significant plus, but a passion for learning is paramount.
