Job Summary
The Deputy Sheriff is a vital member of the law enforcement team, responsible for maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within the community. This role requires a dedicated individual who can respond to emergencies, conduct investigations, and engage with the community to foster trust and cooperation. The Deputy Sheriff will work under the direction of a Sheriff or higher-ranking officer, ensuring law enforcement practices are upheld while providing assistance and protection to citizens.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, and incidents.
- Conduct thorough investigations, gather evidence, and prepare detailed reports.
- Enforce traffic laws and regulations, including issuing citations as necessary.
- Engage with community members to build relationships and promote public safety initiatives.
- Handle animals in distress or danger, ensuring their safety and care when required.
- Provide first aid or CPR in emergency situations until medical personnel arrive.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies on investigations and operations.
- Maintain surveillance in high-risk areas to prevent crime and ensure community safety.
- Demonstrate leadership skills during crisis situations, guiding others effectively.
Skills
- Proficient in surveillance techniques to monitor activities and gather evidence.
- Strong report writing skills for documenting incidents accurately and comprehensively.
- Ability to drive effectively under various conditions while adhering to traffic laws.
- Knowledge of militarized tactics for handling high-risk situations safely.
- Experience in animal handling and care when responding to incidents involving animals.
- Certification in CPR to provide immediate assistance in emergencies.
