OVERVIEW: The Senior Immigration Advisor I reports directly to a regional Immigration Manager and works as an integral member of the Global team assisting with case preparation and management for all clients in the designated region.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle complex or high-sensitive cases
- Continue to increase knowledge in immigration matters including case management, begin gaining knowledge in client requests related to initiations and queries
- Assist with mentoring or advising junior Advisors with case strategy/communications
- Assist in preparation and training of Global staff based on expertise with ability to confidently provide advice to Attorneys, managers, and other legal staff in the firm
- Participate in projects and/or committees related to the area of expertise, including but not limited to, firm-wide/program practices, internal database improvements, etc
- Assist with enforcing BAL policies/procedures/protocols to ensure program’s streamlined practices are observed.
- Begin assisting with various projects for continued improvement of Global program or BAL practices alongside senior/leadership
- Complete other related duties as assigned and support the firm
- Provide support to other Global immigration teams at manager’s discretion
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills and Abilities:
- 2 years of progressive experience as an Immigration Advisor or demonstrated ability to perform the functions of the position
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- Proven ability to handle a high volume of cases
- Proven ability to handle complex, challenging cases with thoroughness and proficiency
- Comprehensive knowledge of regional Immigration Team practice
- Ability to quickly absorb, learn and become skilled at a variety of legal work
- Proven ability to be the “Go To” person on Team
- Able and willing to share knowledge with others and effectively communicate policies/procedures/protocols to all
- Ability to mentor junior staff and lead projects independently
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in all dealings
- Must be able to multi-task and able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Must effectively participate in and facilitate in a oneBAL team environment; professional, respectful attitude towards all coworkers
- Must have excellent time management and prioritization skills
- Must demonstrate strong organization skills
- Must have keen attention to detail, produce error-free work

- Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written
- Good general computer knowledge and typing skills, including word-processing, email, and forms software; ability to learn new software/programs
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to travel within a limited radius to client site or consulates
Physical Requirements:
- Able to maintain a sedentary position for up to 90% of the work day
- Able to type and to grasp, grip, push and pull file drawers and doors
- Able to walk and climb stairs or use elevator to coordinate with other departments
- Able to bend, stoop, kneel and/or stand to access files and documents
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs. of files and/or boxes
