Work Culture Description: Work-life balance is valued at our firm. Attorneys set their own schedule within parameters so they can work when they are most productive. Employees can make up missed hours to save PTO for planned vacations. In addition to PTO, there are one or more paid holidays each month. We have automated processes and trained support staff for routine administrative work so attorneys can focus on their legal work. We encourage continuing legal education for all employees and we often have office wide classes. Employees leave their doors open to encourage communication. We stock the office kitchen so if an employee forgets to bring lunch, they can make themselves a sandwich or have a snack. Some employees bring their well-behaved dogs to the office. We celebrate work anniversaries and birthdays often with lunch and birthday deserts. We have staff led breakfast and lunch potlucks. After maternity leave, employees typically bring their babies to work with them up to one year of age. Work Location: Ames, Iowa is located adjacent to the Des Moines Metro, and is within hours driving distance to Minneapolis, Omaha, Kansas City and Chicago. Ames is one of the best places to live in Iowa. It is a safe, multicultural, university town with very low unemployment, lots of bars, coffee shops, restaurants, and parks. It has highly rated public schools with many resources for students at every level. There are fitness and sports facilities and clubs, arts and entertainment, public gardens, biking, walking and kayaking trails.
