Our Department's principal goal is to serve our clients with respect, and efficiency and to work on maintaining their families together or to reunite their families as soon as possible using legal strategies and creative forms of relief. In our department we understand the importance of creating a record, all matters before the department could potentially end up before the Courts, therefore ensuring we properly document all actions taken, save copies in the hard copy file and the electronic file of all documentation filed with USCIS and notify the client promptly of any changes, notices, and request for evidence.
The Lead Paralegal will be responsible for ensuring effective management and follow-up of all Visas cases at each stage of the process, securing efficient task allocation, compliance with deadlines, and proficient communication with both clients and agencies. This includes thorough verification and review of each case and collaboration with the team to uphold high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and client satisfaction. The leader will monitor the cases and ensure they are flowing to meet the deadline.
The Lead Paralegal is responsible for maintaining proper communication between Visas Department members, attorneys, financial manager, and managing partners to prepare the record better and ensure prompt adjudication by USCIS. The Lead Paralegal will safeguard the client’s information and ensure it is constantly updated in all our databases.
Qualification and Additional Requirements
An individual may obtain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform essential job duties.
- Work Independent;
- Passion for providing legal services and serving vulnerable populations;
- Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish is required;
- Experience working with survivors of trauma preferred;
- Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers, email, phones, and internet required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required;
- Demonstrated interest in working collaboratively with other professionals;
- Willingness to expand skill set and learn new areas of the law;
- Must be willing and able to travel to the Houston main office as needed;
- Successful completion of background checks required upon offer of employment;
