Familia America, LLC. a dedicated boutique immigration law firm led by Ms. Gloria Cardenas, is seeking a passionate, responsible, and experienced Immigration Attorney to join our team who have been with the firm for decades. In person position in Salt Lake City, Utah (firm headquarters) or remote work from any other state in the United States with commitment to travel to firm headquarters preferably three times a year to meet with attorney, senior operations manager and team members (travel and accommodations paid).

Responsibilities:

1. Primary Responsibilities

Along with one of our experienced paralegal, meet with potential clients on ZOOM, phone or Whatsapp and advise on potential immigration benefits and provide detailed estimates of fees and costs. Follow up with potential clients to retain as clients of the firm.

Supervise and collaborate with the legal department’s support staff to ensure effective case management, accurate filings, and timely submissions.

Provide updates on case progress and offer compassionate, clear guidance through their legal challenges.

Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft motions, briefs, and appeals to support litigation strategies in immigration cases.

2. Representation in Immigration Court (EOIR)

(approximately15% of work load and related to on going benefit applications)

Represent clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) in cases involving Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, and other forms of relief from removal.

Prepare and file motions, briefs, appeals, and other legal submissions with meticulous attention to legal standards, procedural requirements, and strict deadlines.

Prepare clients for hearings, evidence presentation, and direct/cross-examination in court to effectively advocate for clients’ rights.

3. Representation in USCIS Interviews

Prepare clients for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) interviews by explaining procedures, reviewing potential questions, and building client confidence.

Review, and submit petitions, applications, and comprehensive supporting documentation for various immigration benefits, ensuring complete accuracy and compliance with USCIS regulations.

Maintain proactive communication with clients throughout the USCIS process to keep them informed and engaged in their case.

Attendance either in person or on the telephone at USCIS interviews.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school in the U.S..

Active license to practice law in Immigration Court (or agreement to submit application)

2 years of proven experience in immigration law preferred.

Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred but not required.

Exceptional legal research and writing skills, with the ability to draft persuasive motions, briefs, and appeals.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex legal concepts to clients and advocating effectively before government agencies.

Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases under tight deadlines.

Knowledge of WebEx and EOIR polices and practices relating to remote representation
