Job Description And Duties

Pending DHR Approval.

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II, the Immigration Specialist manages projects and assignments with state-wide impact related to immigration special projects; provides technical expertise and support on immigration, visa, and employment authorization issues to prospective employees, employees, supervisors, and managers; and coordinates with prospective employees/employees and various support offices to ensure compliance and timely processing of necessary applications and petitions. The incumbent is responsible for filing visa petitions on behalf of prospective employees and employees.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Staff Services Manager I exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
